X-ABA Mountaineering Club

Club Recent Developments Part 2

And so, we grouped together, put up funds, formalized arrangements with owners, trustees, members, a committee, AGMs and even a constitution. The no-rules of the past had to go, we had to look forward to future needs and expectations.

Now in Bwthyn Tyn Llidiart, we have warm, modern(ish), fit for purpose future proof accommodation. Hut visits are well up families stop and stay, children play on the mattresses and can even be cleaned up when it goes wrong. Space for as many cars as we wish, as much noise as we wish, even space for a tent or two if it overcrowds, providing Bill has been to cut the grass.

We have good links with the university club, membership is swelling with new blood. The memories that were tucked away in 2010 have been partially dusted off, a shelf found for them in a new home. Gradually, the soulless interior is being softened, being made to work for us as we wish. Though we did not make it to the end of Llyn Ogwen and we may no longer be under Siabod within sight of the Tyn'y'coed, we can now see Tryfan, the Carneddau, Yr Wyddfa and all of Eryri. People come, they walk, they bike, they paddle, they socialize and carry on the spirits and traditions of X-ABA. And some even.... still go climbing!
